Lady Gaga Teases Mermaid-Themed Music Video
Gaga says that her mermaid alter-ego, Yuyi, 'is in incubation' and may be born in her next clip.
By Jocelyn Vena
Lady Gaga is still doing her part to make mermaids the next big thing in mythological creature trends. Though she went with a lo-fi, '80s-esque video for "The Edge of Glory" instead of her rumored "fishy" theme, there's a chance she could go under the sea for a different clip.
"I haven't been excited about a video like this in a really long time," she said on a Taiwanese talk show recently, refusing to name the title of the fourth single off of Born This Way.
"The relation of the video to my real life, as well as to my dream of the future, is really what makes it so special," she said on the show. "Part of what Born This Way is all about is choosing to live halfway between reality and fantasy at all times, and how anyone can do that. So this video really, really challenges that idea and also celebrates it. And it's very exciting.
"I will also say that Yuyi is in incubation, for anyone who knows what that means," she added, referring to the name she's given to her mermaid alter ego that she first unveiled during her performance for France's "Le Grand Journal" in June. "Yuyi may just be born in the next video."
Gaga teased that her next single would surprise fans during a Twitter Q&A last week, leading to many a guessing game and wish list.
"I don't want to ruin the surprise! It's very unexpected. Working on the video now," she said. "Next single coming in a bit."
A rep for Gaga has not responded to MTV News' request for comment regarding the next single.

So a Lady and Her Monkey Walk Into a Petsmart...
I went to Petsmart yesterday to get some things for little Mary Margaret, and while I was pulling into the parking lot, I passed a lady getting out of her car with a monkey on her shoulders.
Of course I came to a screeching halt because there was a lady getting our of her car WITH A MONKEY ON HER SHOULDERS, and that's just something you don't see every day.
I proceeded to take a photo...
...but then thought it would be better to capture the craziness on video, so here it is:
Lady and Her Monkey Go to Petsmart from Karyn Bosnak on Vimeo.
When I told Mark about the lady and her monkey and showed him my movie, he said, "You really are crazy." I was like, "I'm crazy? THE MONKEY WAS WEARING A DIAPER AND PEARLS."
I mean, for real, let's put this into perspective.
Anywho, here's another photo of the lady and her monkey at the checkout counter:
I realize I now have one cat and two dogs, but at least I don't walk around with a monkey on my shoulders. (Yet.)

Usher To Donate Gadhafi Money To Charity
'I will be donating all of my personal proceeds...to various human rights organizations,' singer says of concert linked to Libyan dictator.

R&B superstar Usher announced Friday (March 4) that he was donating to various charities proceeds from appearing at a private event at St. Barts linked to Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, according to a statement made to the Associated Press.
The Grammy award winner's renouncement comes after similar announcements from singers Mariah Carey, Nelly Furtado, and Beyoncé, all of whom were revealed to have performed at private concerts linked to the Middle Eastern leader, who has faced open revolt and major political uprisings since February.
"I am sincerely troubled to learn about the circumstances surrounding the Nikki Beach St. Bart's event that took place on New Year's Eve 2009," Usher said of the concert, at which he appeared alongside Beyoncé but did not perform. "I will be donating all of my personal proceeds from that event to various human rights organizations."
Usher has already begun the process, having made a donation to Amnesty International, the AP reports. The exact size of the donation is not known.
The New Year's Eve gig was reportedly for Moammar's fourth son Muastassim, who an unnamed music industry source told MTV News has a history of throwing lavish parties "jammed" with supermodels.
Beyoncé, who sang at the event, donated all proceeds from her performance to the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund, established in the wake of the Haitian earthquake.
"All monies paid to Beyoncé for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year's Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts for Haiti over a year ago," the "Halo" singer's publicist said in a statement to The Huffington Post. "Once it became known that the third-party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause."
Singer Nelly Furtado tweeted February 28 that she plans to make similar amends.
"In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Gadhafi clan to perform a 45 min. show for guests at a hotel in Italy," she tweeted. "I am going to donate the $."
The leader of Libya since a successful military coup in 1969, Gadhafi has reportedly lost control of much of his country as a result of widespread uprisings. The United Nations voted unanimously to refer the dictator to the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Catherine Kieu Becker Charged with Torture for Genitalia Attack
Catherine Kieu Becker faces life in prison for taking the sex life of her husband this week.
We're sorry to relive this incident, fellas, but Becker was arrested yesterday for admittedly drugging the man from whom she's getting a divorce, tying him up, cutting off his penis and sticking it in the garbage disposal.
She was initially charged with aggravated mayhem, but now police have added "torture" to the list, which is also a felony and which could result in a life sentence if Becker is found guilty.
The woman every male in America currently fears is being held without bail.

With the release of "Captain America: The First Avenger" only two weeks away, MTV News is excited to announce that star Chris Evans will be sitting down with our own Josh Horowitz to premiere an exclusive clip of the film and talk about the movie for the latest installment of "MTV First" next Thursday night.
After the clip airs on MTV and MTV.com at 7:56 p.m. ET, Evans will stick around and chat for 30 minutes about the Marvel flick. Of course, we know you have plenty you're dying to know about the comic book adaptation, so submit your questions on MTV.com or through Twitter, tweeting @MTVNews with the hashtag #AskChris. You can also upload a 20- to 30-second video with your questions for the "Captain America" star at Your.MTV.com.
With "MTV First: Captain America" happening only a week before the film premieres, expect plenty of probing questions about how terrifying Hugo Weaving looked in his Red Skull make up and what it was like holding Captain America's shield for the first time. And since the shooting of "The Avengers" is under way, we'll certainly make sure Evans tells us everything he can about Joss Whedon's foray into the Marvel universe.
When MTV News visited the set of "Captain America" last year, he spoke about how he based the superhero on a good friend of his, giving us a glimpse into how personally he was taking the role.
"He's just a good man who does the right thing," Evans said of his friend. "He wouldn't even tell a white lie. He's not pious, not condescending; he just wants to do the good thing. His morals are intact. I'm amazed that people like him exist. Even his demeanor is very noble and honorable, and he is Captain America to me."
Got questions for Chris Evans? Tweet them @MTVNews with the hashtag #AskChris or upload them to Your.MTV.com. Then tune in to MTV and MTV.com next Thursday at 7:56 p.m. ET for "MTV First: Captain America."
Check out everything we've got on "Captain America: The First Avenger."

Celebrity Military Suicide PSAs
Cher doesn't know what it's like to be in a war, but she knows that military members and their families might need help with the aftermath of war and deployment.
She's one of a host of celebrities trying to get the word out to service men and women, as well as their families, that help is available if they're feeling suicidal.
"If you're feeling at a loss, you are not alone. There's help," the actress and singer says in a new public service announcement that promotes a toll-free, confidential suicide prevention help line. "Your family needs you, we need you, and thank you so much for your service."
In a press release, the Military Channel, The Creative Coalition and Blue Star Families -- the driving forces behind the PSAs -- cite national statistics that show veterans constitute about 20 percent of the 30,000 to 32,000 U.S. deaths each year from suicide. On average, 18 veterans attempt suicide each day, and seven of them succeed. Suicides also are increasing among military family members, they say.
To help curb those numbers, the PSAs aim to let vets and their families know they don't have to suffer alone. One way to get help is by calling the assistance hotline at 1-800-273-TALK.
Other celebs touting the suicide prevention message include The Fighter Academy Award winner Melissa Leo, Michael Chiklis of Fantastic Four and The Shield, football star Terrell Owens, Taye Diggs of Private Practice, actress Minnie Driver, Alfre Woodard of Memphis Beat, Tom Arnold of True Lies fame, and Hector Elizondo of Grey’s Anatomy. The PSAs, directed by Tim Daly of Private Practice, are airing on the Military Channel, Lifetime network’s MyLifetime.com, Elle.com and on taxi screens in New York City, Boston, Miami and Chicago.
See those celebs and more in the PSAs here and here.

Justin Bieber released his fragrance, Someday, this week and he launched an all-out promo campaign for the occasion.
The Biebs hit New York City, dropping by "The Late Show With David Letterman" on Wednesday night, and then popping up on the "Today" show Thursday morning (June 23). He then sat down with the ladies of "The View."
On "Letterman," the pop star delivered the "top 10" list, revealing little-known personal facts. So, what did fans learn about Bieber? "I served eight months in prison for siphoning gas," he shared.
He also joked, "I begged my publicist to get me out of this."
But most important, he revealed, "It's a hair piece."
During his "Today" show appearance, he sprayed fans with Someday and signed autographs. "I'm more interested in how females smell than males, which is why I decided to do it for all the girls, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to charity," he shared. "We did a couple [charities], like, Pencils [of] Promise," he added about the educational organization. "They're doing this campaign called Schools 4 All, so I'm just really excited."
Bieber also described his inspiration for the scent as "different girls and stuff."
After his appearance on "The View," Bieber will head to Macy's Herald Square on 34th street, where some of his fans have lined up days in advance, waiting for a chance to see the Biebs. "These are pretty extreme fans," Macy's spokesperson Robin Reibel said about the mass of teenage girls gathered at the famed department store. "A lot of these girls camped out in tents last night."
Bieber will meet with the first 350 fans lucky enough to make the cut (and who purchase Someday) on Thursday. For $135, fans will get sprays in 3.4 and 1 oz. bottles, a 6.7 oz. body lotion, 5 oz. hair mist and a photo with the teen star. The fragrance has been touted as "energy with a state-of-mind that inspires. It is a personal gift straight from his heart, giving fans a chance to get one step closer to Justin. It's a fragrance he can't get enough of and can't stay away from, making those who wear it irresistible."
Will you buy Justin's fragrance? Tell us in the comments!

Red Hot Chili Peppers Video 'Crazier' With Kreayshawn Calling Shots
MTV News spoke to director (and rapper) on the set of the Chili Peppers' 'The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie' clip.

When MTV News first broke the news that up-and-coming "Gucci Gucci" rapper Kreayshawn had been tapped to direct the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" video, the reaction from most seemed to be "her?"
Yes, despite the fact that she went to The Berkeley Digital Film Institute — and has directed clips for the likes of Lil B — most couldn't believe that the Chili Peppers had gone with the Bay Area Based Goddess for the first video from their much-anticipated I'm With You album. But RHCP fans weren't the only ones feeling that way: Turns out Kreayshawn couldn't believe it either.
"My manager hit me up. He was like, 'Oh, Warner is looking for somebody to direct the new Red Hot Chili Peppers video. They want you to do a treatment.' So at that time, I was like, 'Oh sh--! I'm about to do it,' " Kreayshawn told MTV News on the set of the "Rain Dance" video earlier this week. "Later, I found out that [my treatment] was picked out of a whole bunch of them. ... So I was like, 'Oh, that makes it even crazier.' I went to film school and stuff, but, like, I never thought it was going to translate into something this big."
Though she was overwhelmed, Kreayshawn said any doubts she had disappeared after speaking with RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis and discovering that the two shared similar visions for the clip.
"I talked to Anthony a couple times, and he was like, 'I want to do a couple changes to the video,' but all the changes he had were, like, stuff we were already doing with the video, like slow-motion and stuff. So I was like, 'We're dialed in,' " she said. "Everyone was completely ready and they came here, they're excited, which makes me even happier. ... There's a good vibe everywhere."
Of course, while she was more than willing to speak about the vibe of the video, Kreayshawn didn't want to reveal much about the actual plot — though she did say that, well, certain groups of the Chili Peppers' fanbase will definitely be happy with the end result.
"It's got that organic feel, but it still gives the band a great shine and they look f---ing awesome," she laughed. "They are looking off the chain, man. Anthony's in there looking like a swimsuit model."
What do you think about Kreay getting behind the lens for the Chili Peppers? Let us know in the comments!
