Madonna Unveils Colorful MDNA Cover Art

Funky cover, which features Madge with bright red lips, reflects 'high-energy' vibe of the album.

Madonna may have gone stripped down and black-and-white for her "Give Me All Your Luvin' " single art, but for her MDNA album cover, she's on the other end of the color spectrum.

A nod to her love of all things colorful and disco, the singer is truly expressing herself in the glamorous, deconstructed photograph full of bouncing colors. In the photo, Madge cocks her head up, her curly hair pulled back. She's wearing lots of mascara, bright red lipstick, a choker and a silky bright pink top. The photo has some kind of broken mirror filter over it, giving it a funky, dance-queen vibe. She dropped the art on her Facebook page.

Madonna recently described MDNA as "high-energy" and this particular visual certainly fits that vibe.

Madonna releases "Give Me", the first single off the album, on Friday, along with the video. She's set to take the stage at the Super Bowl on Sunday.

In a photo posted on TMZ.com, Madge's halftime stage features a series of lights that spell out "Vogue" set into the floor. She's rumored to be performing the 1990 song at the show. The stage setup also includes bleachers, which may have something to do with the fact that the performance may have a cheerleader theme.

Madonna is also rumored to be taking the stage with Cee Lo Green and LMFAO as well as her "Give Me" pals, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., the latter of whom opened up about taking the stage with Madonna in a recent interview.

"I'm gonna be performing with Madonna and Nicki Minaj ... If you're gonna go to the Super Bowl, you might as well go with America's biggest female icons," M.I.A. explained. "As musicians, we're two women and we represent two opposite sides of the world. If we can come together on a piece of music or something like the Super Bowl, I feel like that's actually a cool thing to see this year because it's getting silly out there."

What do you think of Madonna's album cover? Sound off in the comments section below!

Justin Bieber Kicks Off New Year With New Track

Pop star debuts 'Happy New Year,' a swaggerfied slow jam featuring Jaden Smith.

<P>Justin Bieber isn't new to creating holiday songs using his new-millennium, R&B swagger, as evidenced on his Christmas album, <a href="/news/articles/1671983/justin-bieber-christmas-album-under-the-mistletoe.jhtml"><i>Under The Mistletoe</i></a>. And this weekend, he gave New Year's a try. The singer <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/justinbieber/status/153329259757318145" target="_blank">tweeted</a> a New Year's-themed track, "Happy New Year," which features his pal Jaden Smith rapping. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:702340.id:1672718" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The slow jam is certainly swaggerfied but also reflective, featuring lyrics that both play up the singer's pop-star image and look ahead to a more hopeful year. "I'm gonna make your cheeks red when I kiss your neck/Girl I'm never leavin' 'cause you are the best baby," he sings. "I wanna give you everything/Never feel 'cause girl you're coming home with me." In a spoken breakdown, he says, "2012 is the year to be better, stronger and closer to the people around you. So grab someone special, and just, you know." Smith also shows some bad-boy personality and proves that rapping runs in the Smith DNA. He raps, " 'Cause 2012 is the year of the love/And we gon' start it off/We can get a plane today and get a car toma'/We don't do it small at all/No girl tell me what I gotta to do/I can be the beat that you rockin' to/I can do anything, nothing is impossible, especially with you girl/And I never need a new girl/This love is true girl/Aye welcome to the crew girl." Not only was Bieber gracing fans with new tracks over the weekend, but he also took the stage during "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2012" in Times Square, not far from where his lady love Selena Gomez was <a href="/news/articles/1676633/new-year-selena-gomez-mac-miller.jhtml">hosting "NYE in NYC 2012."</a> The twosome later partied together at Glass House, <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/marc_malkin/justin_bieber_selena_gomezs_late_night/283450" target="_blank">E! News</a> reports. A source says, "He...danced with Selena, showing off, picking her up and swinging her around like it was 'Dancing With the Stars.' " Bieber recently debuted another track<a href="/news/articles/1676443/justin-bieber-be-alright-new-song.jhtml">"Be Alright,"</a> during his holiday special, "Justin Bieber: Home For The Holidays." He's expected to drop his <a href="/news/articles/1675015/justin-bieber-new-album.jhtml">new album, <i>Believe</i></a>, later this year. <a href="http://www.facebook.com/mtvnews"target="_blank"><b><i>Want Exclusive Justin Bieber News and Video? State Of The Union Draws Mixed Reactions From Junior Statesmen

High school students focus heavily on President Obama's stance on education reform.
By Gil Kaufman

President Obama delivers the State of the Union address on Tuesday night

One of the most important lessons high school-age members of the Junior State of America learn is the value of vigorous yet civil debates about the state of government and foreign affairs.

That's why a handful of JSA members contacted by MTV News on Wednesday (January 25) had widely divergent but measured reactions to President Obama's State of the Union address.

"The most significant part of his speech for me was his take on education," said Saaye Arumugam, a 17-year-old high school senior in Miamisburg, Ohio. "During the Bush administration with No Child Left Behind, the federal government perpetuated this idea that standardized education was the only route to gauge success. Obama addressed that critical thinking should outweigh this idea of standardized thinking and teaching to the test."

Obama called for states to require students to stay in school until age 18 and to replace teachers who are ineffective. The portion about lowering college interest rates also piqued the interest of home-schooled senior Chris Boyajian of Lumberton, New Jersey. "When he talked about college tuition and getting interest rates down on loans and getting tuition lower, that was important to me," said Boyajian, 17. "[But] I didn't agree when he said that college is for everyone. I think it's not. There are some people who wouldn't fit in college, but I did like what he said about getting interest rates down so we're not paying two or three times the loan."

One reason Boyajian was so focused on the cost of college was because he's planning to go to law school. "I'm trying very hard not to take out loans [for college] ... I'm trying to pay with my family's savings or merit-based scholarships."

Because their organization is based on civil discourse, a number of the JSA members said they were disappointed by the gridlock in Washington and not particularly optimistic about the president's chances of getting his initiatives passed, especially during an election year.

Englewood, California, senior Michael Escobar, 17, was hopeful that at least one would get pushed through: Obama's call for a return of manufacturing to the U.S. "It's essential for prosperity, and it rewards companies with tax breaks," he said. "I will go to college soon and hopefully in the future there will be a job opening ready for me ... A lot of students are investing a lot of money in bachelor's and master's, and there's no guarantee of a job."

Escobar also paid close attention to the president's plans to reform education, since he said he's seen firsthand the effect of the cuts in education at his school and worries that the gridlock in Congress could stall Obama's initiatives.

"We have a lot of low-income families at my school, and it's really frustrating," he said about budget cuts to education. As a member of student council with access to budget and attendance information, Escobar said that since funding for advanced placement exams at his school dried up, some of the low-income families have to pay nearly $300 for AP classes out of their own pockets. "Colleges are asking for those most difficult courses, but there's not enough funding for education to cover it."

Austin, Texas, high school senior Nick Goulding said he found himself getting increasingly irritated as the speech went on. "President Obama was saying the same things he's been saying for three years ago now," said Goulding, 18. "He's trying to make people feel bad about being successful in America. When he was talking about millionaires and trying ... to alienate them about their success. I don't know why you'd want that in a president." As an example, he mentioned his father, who came from a poor family and worked his way up to founding a very successful landscaping company. "Increasing taxes on those who are successful is counterproductive to what should occur in a free country."

And while Goulding was not enthused about the president's call for a "Buffett tax" on millionaires and billionaires, he did appreciate how respectful Obama was when talking about the armed forces. "One of the few things I do attribute to the president as far as successes is killing Osama bin Laden and ending the wars," he said.

As a high school junior at the Orange County High School of the Arts, Julianna Ross, 16, also paid close attention to the bits about education reform, but she was focused on Obama's plea for bipartisanship in Washington. "He basically said under our current system we can't progress and we won't make advancement on these issues," she said, echoing her colleagues' concerns. "One of the things we talk about at Junior Statesmen is fostering civil discourse ... which has taught me to understand the opposing side ... and learn how to compromise. That's something that really needs to be implemented in the real world of politics."

Heidi Klum & Seal Divorce? What?

Heidi Klum & Seal to divorce? What the heck? I certainly did not see that one coming. For a couple whose marriage I thought for sure would endure forever, I’m quite surprised that these two are reportedly dunzo. What happened? According to TMZ, Klum will reportedly file divorce papers sometime next week in L.A. Superior Court. As for the reason behind their split, the supermodel has cited the ever popular “irreconcilable differences”. Reps for both Klum and Seal have been mum since news that Heidi will file for divorce from the “Kiss From a Rose” singer broke this morning. So what do you think happened between these two? They have long been known as quite the loving couple, and watching them together during interviews, you could see how in love with each other these two were. Each year, on their anniversary, the two would renew their vows, in celebration of their love. On December 27th, Heidi tweeted a pic of herself and Seal while on vacation in Aspen. Could that trip have been a “make it or break it” for the couple? The last time the two were reportedly seen together was on January 7th, with kids in tow while [...]

Justin Bieber's Snake To Lady Gaga's Egg: 2011 Red-Carpet Highlights

Beyonce's baby bump was one of the year's most-memorable moments.

<P>Anything can happen on the red carpet at any given awards show, and in 2011, it felt like anything that could happen <i>did</i>. Golden Globes 2012: Best And Worst Moments

Peter Dinklage's acceptance speech and Seth Rogen's shocking one-liner rank among best Globes moments — but there were FAILs too.
By Josh Wigler

Peter Dinklage at the 2012 Golden Globes
Photo: Getty Images

In spite of some predictable results ("The Artist" wins everything! Again!) and a far tamer-than-expected performance from returning host Ricky Gervais, there were some moments at the 2012 Golden Globes worth standing up and saluting — from victories for a handful of small-screen underdogs to appearances from real-life dogs.

Of course, there were other moments we would just as soon forget. Read on for our list of the best and worst of Sunday's (January 15) Globes!

Best Penis Joke: Seth Rogen
On a night peppered with lewd, "members only" humor that included Madonna trying to steal a smooch from Gervais and George Clooney offering "Shame" star Michael Fassbender a few golf tips, it was "50/50" comedian Seth Rogen who came out swinging with the most shocking one-liner of the night. Rogen called attention to his "concealed erection" while standing next to Kate Beckinsale, and it's a good thing she wasn't in character as "Underworld" badass Selene, or else that joke may have ended very, very differently.

Best Google Alert: Peter Dinklage
This year's Globes gave Dinklage yet another deserved win for playing Tyrion Lannister on "Game of Thrones." But the actor didn't simply accept his award, he sent every viewer with access to the Internet straight to the Web with instructions to Google Martin Henderson. No, he did not mean the "Torque" actor. Instead, Dinklage successfully called attention to a dwarf-tossing victim in England, using the Globes as a platform to highlight a greater issue.

Least Prepared Winner: Meryl Streep
When you hold the record for receiving the most Golden Globe nominations of any actor in history, one would think you'd be a bit more prepared when an award actually came your way. During Sunday night's broadcast, however, Streep was genuinely stunned by her Best Actress victory for "The Iron Lady." In a discombobulated acceptance speech, she thanked actors who weren't even nominated for awards and dragged on for way too frakkin' long. Meryl, we love you, but please: a little preparation goes a long way. At this point in your storied career, there's really no excuse for getting played off the stage.

Biggest Mistake: The "Boss" Wins Over Walter White
No disrespect intended to the former Frasier Crane, who has ruled the small screen in many incarnations over the years. Grammar's work on Starz's freshman drama "Boss" is worth acclaim, no doubt, but is it worth more than "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston's continued excellence as chemistry teacher-turned-meth cook? Not a chance. Four years into the AMC thriller and Cranston continues to top himself with every episode in his role as Walter White. He is the danger, and there's no question that he should have won the Globe this year.

Spot-On Award: "Homeland"
On the flip side, voters got it right by awarding Showtime's "Homeland" with two major awards: one for Best Drama and one to Claire Danes for Best Actress in a TV Drama. Danes' mentally unstable counterterrorism agent Carrie Mathison is one of the most original and moving lead characters to hit the small screen in recent years, and the actress' victory in this category is more than deserved. Likewise, the series itself was one of the brightest TV offerings of 2011, absolutely required viewing for anyone fascinated by the world of espionage and the War on Terror.

Best Dog: Uggie, "The Artist"
In a year dominated by awesome movie dogs, Jack from "The Artist" — played by Uggie the Jack Russell terrier — was the only one respectful enough to actually show up to the Golden Globes. By default, Uggie wins our inaugural Best Dog award. To the other canines: shame on you for staying home.

Stick with MTV News for the 2012 Golden Globes winners, and don't miss all the fashion from the Golden Globes red carpet!

Blue Ivy Carter: Destiny's Child

An open letter to Jay-Z and Beyoncé's brand-new baby girl, in Bigger Than the Sound.
By James Montgomery

Beyonce
Photo: Jim Spellman/ WireImage

<P>Dear Blue Ivy Carter (or whatever your name ends up being), Hi, welcome to the world! We've never actually met, though I did say hello to your dad at that <a href="/news/articles/1620444/jay-z-hopes-grizzly-bear-will-push-hip-hop.jhtml">Grizzly Bear show</a> a couple years ago (he kind of nodded back to me), and one time I was in the same room as your mom, so I feel like I'm in a pretty good position to be speaking directly to you right now. Anyway, you are just a few days old and, as such, probably not all that familiar with the way things work, but I figured I'd let you in on a little secret: You are very famous, and you are probably always going to be. Shoot, you've already <a href="/news/articles/1676945/blue-ivy-carter-new-jay-z-song-glory.jhtml">landed your first feature</a>, and it's better than anything Lourdes Leon has ever done. You are the First Daughter of Hip Hop, not to mention the <i>actual</i> Destiny's Child. And given all that, you childhood is going to be a little unorthodox: You will undoubtedly be the subject of creepy fashion spreads in gossip mags (just ask <a href="http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-moms/news/suri-cruise-wears-red-lipstick-pink-bowler-hat-2011109" target="_blank">Suri</a>) and you will definitely never get to go to a Chuck E. Cheese or anything. Sorry in advance. But honestly, Chuck E. Cheese isn't that great anyway. You're not missing much. <CENTER><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:724018/cp~name%3Dnews%26id%3D1672369%26vid%3D724018%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A724018" width="430" height="242" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></CENTER> On the flipside, being famous is really, <i>really</i> great. You will get to go to any preschool your little heart desires, you can have anything you want for lunch and you could probably play point guard for the Nets once Deron Williams leaves. I can't even begin to imagine what your first birthday party will be like, but I hope I'm invited to it. You will be afforded the kinds of opportunities we mere mortals can only dream of; yours will be a life unlike most. It goes hand-in-hand with being a celebrity at age zero &#8212; sure, you'll probably be assigned a security detail as soon as you're able to walk, but, really, it's a small price to pay for the unlimited possibilities of fame. But here's the thing: I hope you never actually <i>act</i> like you're famous. You are, despite all evidence to the contrary, just another human being. No more, no less. As you get older, try to follow <a href="http://www.bestweekever.tv/2012-01-03/louis-ck-autograph-advice/" target="_blank">Louis C.K.'s advice</a>: Don't be an a--hole. A lot of this will be up to your parents, which is a good thing, since they seem to be two of the more grounded folks on the planet, despite being multimillionaires who own part of an NBA franchise. They certainly know the value of hard work (maybe don't ask your dad about said "hard work" in his early days, though), and neither of them has ever forgotten where they came from. Which is why you should probably listen to them, no matter what &#8212; even if they refuse to let you rent out Priv&#233; for your first ballet recital. Trust me, it's for your own good. Because, really, I hope you grow up to be your own person, that you follow your own muse and be happy and well-adjusted. You don't even have to be a celebrity; you could be a teacher or a scientist or a social worker. In fact, maybe you should &#8212; they're all more honorable professions. But if you want to follow in your parents' footsteps, that's fine too; I just hope that when I'm 50 and interview you on some red carpet, I will be relieved to discover that you are a very nice person. I have a feeling you probably will be. You have good role models in that regard. Oh, and please tell your mom and dad congratulations for me. So good luck with your life. It's going to be a wild, wonderful thing. I look forward to seeing how you turn out, and I get the feeling I'm not the only one. I know you've got a busy sleeping/eating schedule ahead of you, so I'll let you get back to it. But before I go, let me leave you with one last piece of advice: Whatever you do, try not to listen to Uncle Kanye. That guy's nuts. Sincerely,<br> James <i>Any more advice for Blue Ivy Carter? Let us know in the comments!</i> <CENTER><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:723691/cp~name%3Dnews%26id%3D1676907%26vid%3D723691%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A723691" width="430" height="242" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></CENTER></p>

12 Best Christmas Pop Songs Of All Time1676456

Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey make our list of yuletide favorites.
By Jocelyn Vena

Justin Bieber
Photo: Getty Images

Looking for some inspiration for Christmas-themed music? Well, don't worry, MTV News has wrapped up a special holiday playlist so that you can get into the spirit of the season. Grab a glass of eggnog, put on your best reindeer sweater and snuggle up by the fire with these choice tunes. "Mistletoe," Justin Bieber
Bieber's modern-day missive (released in 2011 off of Under the Mistletoe) about kissing under the mistletoe certainly harks back to carols of days gone by, but he updates the narrative using his own fly-boy language, referring to his girl as his "shawty." Awww!

"All I Want for Christmas Is You," Mariah Carey
Perhaps the most ubiquitous pop song of the last 20 years, Carey's iconic single may have been reimagined by Bieber, but it will forever be associated with Carey, her skimpy Santa suit and her desire to be reunited with her boy. "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays," *NSYNC
Spunky and funky, *NSYNC's 1998 track is all about getting together with your friends and family and wishing them "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" — a fitting sentiment for folks of all persuasions. "My Only Wish (This Year)," Britney Spears
Like Carey before her, Britney uses her sugary sweet, incredibly innocent ode to the holidays to pine away for the one thing she hopes Santa can get her: her one true love. "Last Christmas," Wham!
George Michael had one message for that ex-special someone: This year, to save him from tears, he'll give his heart to someone special. After it was released, the song immediately became a Christmas staple with radio and local malls playing it endlessly through the season. "Do They Know It's Christmas?" Band Aid
While many Christmas songs focus on chestnuts roasting on an open fire, 1984's A-list-filled charity single reminded the world that not everyone has chestnuts or an open fire. "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town," Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
This song had already been recorded and re-recorded, but when Springsteen put his Jersey sass on the Christmas classic, it became the type of jovial, rocked-out tune cool enough to top the lists of his fans. "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," U2
Darlene Love may have recorded the track in 1963, but Bono and his boys put their own spin on the song when they released it in 1987. It's all about wanting your baby to come home to you on Christmas. And, really, who doesn't want that? "Baby, It's Cold Outside," Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson
In a world where these two are still together, it would actually be a cute idea to have this real-life couple sing about wanting to stay warm with one another on a chilly winter night. "Don't Shoot Me Santa," The Killers
Every Christmas playlist needs a kooky take on the holidays, and the Las Vegas band's spin on pleading with Santa to cut them a break is a bit country, a bit rock and roll, and all fun. See also: Blink-182's "I Won't Be Home for Christmas." "I'll Be Home for Christmas," Michael Bublé
Bublé's Christmas album has been sitting at the top of the charts for weeks, and this particularly stirring Christmas ballad is all about making sure you're with the people you love for the holidays. "Santa Baby," Madonna
Cooing and gushing about what she wants from her Santa Baby for Christmas is an incredibly decadent idea full of incredibly lavish gift ideas. Pretend like there's no recession, blast this one and imagine a world where cars and jewels are totally affordable Christmas gifts. Which is your favorite Christmas pop song? Hugh Jackman is ready to hit the Great White Way once again. The actor has been confirmed to take the stage as the lead in "Houdini" Deadline reports.

"I have been deeply fascinated by the life of Harry Houdini since I was young, and in many ways I've been preparing for this role my whole life," Jackman said in a statement. "I am thrilled to be collaborating with this collection of artists who are all at the top of their game."

The play, written by "The Social Network" screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, will open during the 2013/2014 season. Sorkin will work with composer Stephen Schwartz and director Jack O'Brien.

"Rather than being a biography, 'Houdini,' told in a contemporary tone, tells the story of an epic battle that took place between the world's greatest illusionist and a trio of women, known as 'Spiritualists,' who convinced millions of people, including the editors of Scientific American and the New York Times, that they could communicate with the dead," Sorkin said. "The chance to collaborate with Stephen Schwartz, Jack O'Brien and Hugh Jackman on a new Broadway musical is a huge gift."

Before he takes the stage, Jackman has a number of other projects on his plate, including the big-screen adaptation of "Les Miserables," the next installment of "Wolverine" and "Unbound Captives" with Robert Pattinson. Most recently, Jackman starred in the one-man show, "Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway" and has also starred in "The Boy From Oz" and "A Steady Rain."
