Justin Bieber's Grammy Performance Will Be 'A Crossover,' Usher Says

The 'O.M.G.' singer looks forward to sharing the stage with his protégé on Sunday night.

HOLLYWOOD — At Sunday's 53rd Grammy Awards, Usher will be pulling double duty as both a nominee and a performer. Of course, given the massive year he just completed — with the success of his smash single "O.M.G." and as a mentor to rising phenom Justin Bieber — Ush's Grammy plans seem rather fitting.

Especially since he'll be performing with Bieber (and Bieber's pal Jaden Smith), a move that's just as much about celebrating Usher's successes as it is the successes of his young protégé.

"Having been through [the Grammys] so many times, you couldn't want for anything more than for your young protégé to have the opportunity to have one, so, in support of him having his moment, I wanted to be here," Usher told MTV News on Thursday, hours before his performance at the (Belvedere) RED launch party in Hollywood. "And also to be there to perform, to kind of tell the story of how we came together. This music business has definitely been good to both of us, and this year we have a lot to be happy for."

And just how will the dynamic duo tell that story? Well, Usher wasn't about to reveal all the details, but he did say that he's hoping their performance will show another side of Bieber ... a side most tend to overlook.

"The performance will be fun," Usher explained. "We want to get up there and just do what we do. Be comfortable, and have a great time. ... This is kind of a crossover for Justin. Having performed on so many different stages, this is the way that I wanted him to be seen and an opportunity to show the industry — a lot of the industry, that didn't believe [in him] — some of his other talents. He's going to play acoustically, and also, we'll get down a little bit."

And though Ush is up for a pair of Grammy awards on Sunday — Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best Contemporary R&B Album for Raymond v. Raymond — he's most looking forward to sharing the stage with Bieber and giving fans a look at where the young artist will be heading next.

"I'm very proud, man. I definitely saw it from the beginning, but thanks to the team that we have around us, it was made to happen. And that story has only just begun," Usher said. "The story of Justin Bieber doesn't stop with screaming girls; we need screaming fans all around the world ... a cultural experience that's much more than just fanfare. And that's what this is. That's what the Grammys will be; that's what my next phase for Justin is. This is the way I found him: I found him with a guitar in his hand, so I want him to be seen that way."

Don't miss "Snooki & Sway: Live From the Grammys," a red-carpet live stream kicking off Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on MTV.com. And stick with us all Grammy night for coverage of the red carpet, the show, the afterparties and beyond!

Britney Spears and Madonna have reunited again, at least on the cover of Out magazine. Pop music's crème de la crème will share the April cover of the popular gay magazine's first-ever "Ladies We Love" issue, marking the publication's first dual-cover release.

While Spears teamed up with photographer Ruven Afanador for her shoot, Madonna's photo spread dates back to the entertainer's early career, with previously unseen shots by photographer Richard Corman from 1982. In a post on Out.com, the folks at the mag said that they wanted to shine light on female icons popular among the gay community, writing, "We're dedicating our entire April issue to the women who inspire, scandalize, educate, and excite us — in a different way than they excite the other boys."

The "Ladies We Love" issue hits newsstands on March 29, the same day as Spears' Femme Fatale hits stores. However, Out is giving fans an early look at their feature with the pop princess by posting the full Spears interview and photo shoot on their website on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

News of Britney's Out magazine spread comes days after the "Hold It Against Me" singer's feature in V magazine made its way to the Internet. In the issue, Spears opens up about the musical direction of Femme Fatale.

"I like music that makes you move and connects with your soul. I like to feel inspired right away when I listen to new music," she says. "I always have songs being sent to me from new artists and producers from all over the world, which is really cool. From there I just follow my heart."

Will you be picking up Out magazine's Britney/Madonna issue? Tell us in the comments below!

Should Lindsay Lohan Plea Bargain or Go to Trial?

She may cut her losses and take a short stint in jail or continue to fight what may be a losing battle. Either way, Lindsay Lohan will appear in court this week.

The starlet is heading back to L.A. today with her brother Michael Jr., in what some sources say is a sign she is leaning towards accepting a plea deal after all.

Lindsay stands charged with felony grand theft, having allegedly pilfered a $2,500 necklace. She faces up to a year in STATE prison if she's convicted.

She says she's innocent, but it's more complicated than that.

Dressed 2 Impress

Not only would myriad probation violations likely land her in hot water even if she were found not guilty, the prosecution will dredge up Lindsay's klepto nature.

If she doesn’t take the deal, which would require her to spend three months in jail (whittled down to much less with good behavior) her past will be an issue.

That's because with probation, a judge alone makes the call. She could be remanded into custody as she awaits trial, ensuring she's locked up either way.

In any case, she has until March 25 to take the plea deal on the table. If she passes, which she has to this point, a preliminary hearing will take place in April.

Tell us: Should Lindsay Lohan accept the plea bargain?

Billy Ray Cyrus Calls Off His Divorce

Billy Ray Cyrus Calls Off His Divorce

Billy Ray Cyrus is getting the band -- er, family -- back together. The country singer, 49, is hoping to reunite with wife Tish and pop star daughter Miley after announcing a divorce in October.

"I've dropped the divorce," Cyrus tells the ladies of The View in an interview airing Friday. "I want to put my family back together … Things are the best they've ever been."

Last month, Cyrus blamed Miley's Disney Channel hit Hannah Montana for breaking up the family in an interview with GQ, saying he would "erase it all in a second if I could." But he also took personal responsibility for Miley's scandals -- like the semi-naked Vanity Fair pictures, the risque costumes, and the salvia-smoking video.

"I should have been a better parent. I should have said, 'Enough is enough -- it's getting dangerous and somebody's going to get hurt,'" said Billy Ray.

Reportedly, Miley was freaked out by her father's candid interview and forced him to cancel other press appearances -- including one on The View. Guess they sorted it out, since Billy Ray tells the View ladies that things are finally good between them. (The family also weathered a rumor mill with allegations that Tish had an affair with friend Bret Michaels, which the rocker denied).

"I feel like I got my Miley back," says Billy. "I feel like we're the daddy and daughter we were before Hannah Montana."

Also, he admits he was a little harsh on his daughter's show. "Hannah Montana didn't ruin my family -- fame did," says the singer, who had his own mega-hit in 1992 with "Achy Breaky Heart." "Sometimes when you get in this ride, you feel like you're strapped to a rocket."

Stone Temple Pilots Reunited In Hopes Of Opening For Led Zeppelin, Bassist Says

'If time allows, there will definitely be new music,' Robert DeLeo adds of STP's future.
By Chris Harris

There are a number of reasons why Stone Temple Pilots decided to reunite after nearly five years apart — some are obvious, and others, not so much.

Of course, the financial windfall of reviving the grunge stalwarts for an extensive U.S. tour was too good to pass up, and bassist Robert DeLeo readily admits as much. And then there are the fans, the ones who had been with STP since the very beginning as well as those who discovered the band only after it first split back in 2003 and who, woefully, have yet to catch the Pilots live.

On a more personal level, though, Stone Temple Pilots' resurrection was purely selfish, and very much an anticipatory (not to mention optimistic) move on the band's part: If, after the months and months of rumors and denials, there ever is a full-on Led Zeppelin reunion tour, STP wanted to be ready to offer their services as an opening act.

"Believe me, that was one of the reasons," laughed DeLeo. "We thought, 'We should get together now, in case Zeppelin does tour.' I'm serious, man. That would be one hell of a bill: STP and Led Zeppelin. I mean, we could play a doghouse, out in the middle of the ocean, and if I got to play with Zeppelin, that would be a highlight of my life."

Yes, DeLeo — and the rest of the band — had several reservations about raising STP from the dead — a feat DeLeo jokingly referred to as "Mission Impossible." For the band's members, the idea of regrouping was terrifying at first, but with time, the boys settled their differences and tried to think positive.

"For me, it was about putting down some of the things that I was used to getting bitten by," explained the bassist — who, with guitar-playing brother Dean DeLeo, has been collaborating with Peter Frampton on material for his next LP. "After you get bitten, it's hard to go back. I wanted to go into this with an open frame of mind and a positive attitude and just have fun with it. We should have fun with it, which God knows we didn't always have with our career when we were younger. If that's all I can say, and that's what I can get out of this reunion, great.

"I think I speak for all of us when I say there's a lot of unfinished business that we didn't get around to the first go," he continued. "Enough time has gone by, and it feels really good to be back. I don't really want to put too much thought into how it feels — I'm just kind of going with it and keeping a good positive attitude about it. I just needed to get over the things that we all needed to get over, and that's been working so far. If everyone shows up and does this thing, I think it's going to be really amazing."

DeLeo claims that during recent rehearsals, STP were "sounding as good as ever," and he credits sobriety as part of the reason the band's in tip-top shape.

"My brother's going on four years of sobriety," he said. "We have a lot more clarity in the band now, and I think with clarity comes appreciation. I saw that the other night, when we played [a secret gig in Los Angeles]. I saw it in my eyes, and in the eyes of the rest of the band. There's a lot more rock in this band now."

As for an STP record, DeLeo is not 100 percent sure that's going to happen. The goal for STP over the next few weeks, he said, is to reacquaint themselves with their songbook and prepare for their return to the road. Once the band is back in that mindset, the bassist said new STP material is very possible.

"I've always got stuff written, and there's always a long list of songs that are always there — it's a matter of timing," DeLeo said. "If time allows, there will definitely be new music. I think it would be silly not to release new music. I'd like to believe we still have a writing relationship, but the first step is getting reacquainted with what we know."

While STP were on hiatus, frontman Scott Weiland teamed up with Velvet Revolver, and the DeLeo brothers joined forces with Filter's Richard Patrick for Army of Anyone — who are now on hiatus after releasing a poorly received self-titled LP. Does DeLeo foresee an AOA reunion somewhere down the line?

"You never know," he said. "It's just like STP — I didn't know if I was going to return. Whether we get back together and do anything, I think we made a great record, bottom line. That's all that matters to me. If we make another one, I want to make sure it's great, and that applies to STP and anything I do. But I was pretty heartbroken over [the feeble response to AOA's album]."

James Franco Tweeted, TwitPic'd During Oscars Hosting Gig

'127 Hours' star uploaded series of backstage videos, candid photos throughout broadcast.

The Oscars were going for young and hip, and they definitely got it in co-hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway. In fact, Franco dragged the often staid 83rd annual Academy Awards right up to the present by tweeting about his hosting gig during the broadcast and uploading a series of backstage videos and candid photos to his followers.

He started off his day by posting a video of himself groggily waking up before getting ready for his big gig, then posting a series of photos of the hours leading up to the show and a video preview of his social media plans. "Hey there, it's James Franco. I am talking to you from my suite pretty close to the Kodak Theatre," he said, panning across his room. "You should look out for a few tweets during the show."

As the magic hour approached, the multi-hyphenate actor/artist/Ph.D. student uploaded photos showing him escorting his grandmother into the theater, getting his makeup on, frowning in a high school senior superlative Best Smile pic to remind himself to show his pearly whites during the broadcast and encouraging fans to follow him at the hashtag #OscarsRealTime.

What followed were clips of him entering the elevator on his way up to the stage, a video of his backstage walk to the holding area and, under the heading "these were my famous last words," a clip of him saying nervously, "It might be bad," as an offscreen voice asked him for any parting words to his fans before walking out to open the show.

Franco also posted a clip of him and Hathaway laughing while watching a video together during a commercial break early in their duties, a photo of him flipping off the camera while getting his Marilyn Monroe dress and makeup applied and a video of him waiting to take the stage in drag. Other postings included a video of him interviewing the Oscars head writer backstage during the show and a photo of him and Hathaway with Oprah Winfrey.

He was seemingly as busy behind the scenes as he was in front of them, as he found time to snap photos with Billy Crystal, take a pic of himself onstage, shoot video from the wings of Randy Newman's performance and film a clip of a commercial break bit of time filler during which Hathaway joked with the audience about taping PowerBars under the nominees' seats so they could keep their energy up during the show.

Given the volume of material Franco posted, it's a wonder he could even concentrate on his hosting duties. He also gave a video glimpse of Florence Welch getting ready to perform, another of him self-deprecatingly listening to the intro to the segment on his work in "127 Hours" and a clip of him getting a late-show hand massage from Hathaway. One photo showed him having a post-Oscars celebratory drink with the words "Goodbye LA" scrawled on the pic. This was followed by a shot outside his plane window with the caption, "It was fun! Have to get back to class!"

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Fashions Decoded

While its visuals were no doubt memorable for fans of the "Born This Way" video, Lady Gaga's funky fashions have also caught the eye of fashionistas everywhere. The video's creative director, Laurieann Gibson, credits Gaga's stylist, Nicola Formichetti, for embracing eye-catching couture for the Nick Knight-directed clip.

"When we found Nicola Formichetti — we found him when we were doing Much Music — before that we were just basically hustling and she was making a lot of the costumes, and we were grinding and America Apparel was our best friend," Gibson recalled. "And then we found Nicola and he just got it. So when we're on set, the Haus is such a collaboration, and Nicola is inspired and loves the passion of the dance. He is fashion, and him and Gaga together are magic. To see them push and pull, it's just a real process. It's like the Factory. It's very Warhol how we operate."

Formichetti blogged about the video's expansive fashion credits. In the opening sequence of the video, the star wears a head accessory by Alexis Bittar, a diamond neckpiece by Erickson Beamon with earrings by Pamela Love, and a stained-glass dress by Petra Storrs. Gaga also wears finger rings by Erickson Beamon and the technical chiffon was designed by Thierry Mugler.

During the birthing scene, co-star Raquel Zimmermann wears a bodysuit by Atsuko Kudo and a neckpiece by the Baroness. Gaga wears shoes by Natacha Marro. In the following scene, Zimmerman wears boots by Kobi Levi. And for Gaga's floating head scene, she wears Kudo and Levi, as well.

During the evil-Gaga gun scene, the singer dons knife shoes by Mugler, a dress by Sorcha O' Raghallaigh and gloves by Portolano.

When the song finally kicks in, Gaga wears skimpy lingerie that includes a bra by OMD, underwear by NYC Sex Trash by Stephanie Paterek, gloves by LaCrasia and customized half-sole shoes by Capezio. She completes the look with a special "BTW" jacket by TomTom.

For the "Born This Way" skeleton scene, both she and her skeleton lover, Rico, wear tuxedos by Mugler. For the orgy, the slime is courtesy of Bart Hess. For her Michael Jackson impression in the alley, Gaga wears a shirt and pants by Haus of Gaga, shoes by Natacha Marro, a Billykirk belt and LaCrasia gloves. As the video closes out, the unicorn horn is courtesy of Jennifer Behr.

Is Beyonce Almost Finished With Her New Album?

'I probably won't get on this album, but hopefully the next one,' singer/songwriter Sia says of song she pitched for Beyonce's new album.
By James Dinh

As Britney Spears and Lady Gaga gear up to release new albums, there's another pop heavyweight who may offer them some friendly competition: Beyoncé. Details surrounding the singer's next album remain scarce, but according to a few of the project's collaborators, Bey is almost finished recording the follow-up to 2008's I Am ... Sasha Fierce and has managed to hit the studio with an extensive list of producers.

After gushing about her high hopes for working with Beyoncé, Australian songstress Sia revealed that she told B's behind-the-scenes team that she wanted to lend a creative hand for the new album. "So I just said to all the producers, writers, everyone, help me make this happen, and then Diplo e-mailed me and said, 'where are you in the world right now? would you be interested in flying to New York? I'm writing with Beyoncé,' and I was like, 'Yesss!' " the singer told MTV Australia.

Despite Diplo's offer, Sia said she was unable to fly out because of schedule conflicts, but is in the process of pitching songs to Beyoncé. When asked if her submissions were for Beyoncé's forthcoming LP, Sia said, "Well, there's only one song left for this album, so I probably won't get on this album, but hopefully the next one. That's my dream, that's my goal."

Sia isn't the only collaborator that has suggested Beyoncé is close to wrapping up studio sessions for the project. Sleigh Bells have confirmed working with the singer, but are weary on whether their work with the songstress will make the final cut. Speaking with NME.com, guitarist Derek Miller admitted, "I actually have no idea if the collaboration will ever be released."

While Miller remained tight-lipped on details regarding the song (or songs?), the Sleigh Bells bandmate confessed that the collabo is just one of her many musical partnerships, saying, "Beyoncé works with whoever she wants to work with, probably 30 or 40 producers. It's a totally different world from what I'm used to. So for me, it's just exciting to hear something that I worked on but I can't really say any more than that."

Sia and the Sleigh Bells join a long list of other collaborators who have been tapped to work on Beyoncé's new album, including Ne-Yo, S1, Jim Jonsin, Sean "The Pen" Garrett, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart.

Who do you want to see Beyoncé collaborate with on her new album? Share your suggestions in the comments.

Gary Winick, the 49-year-old director behind "Bride Wars" and "Letters to Juliet," has died, following a battle with brain cancer, according to multiple reports.

In addition to his mainstream credits, Winick boasted a résumé filled with independent fare as well. He produced and directed 2002's "Tadpole," a breakout coming-of-age hit at Sundance, and produced 2003's "Pieces of April," for which Patricia Clarkson received a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. Other production credits include Richard Linklater's "Tape" and Steve Buscemi's "Lonesome Jim." Winick also directed "13 Going on 30" in 2004 and a live-action adaptation of "Charlotte's Web," which grossed more than $140 million worldwide in 2006. In total, according to TheWrap, he produced 19 films.

The filmmaker's death was first made public via Twitter, in an update from producer Matt Dentler, who wrote, "Gary Winick died today. Too late to make the Oscars tribute, but way too early. He leaves behind a legacy of supporting indie film and NYC."

"He was suffering from brain cancer for quite some time, and it ultimately metastasized throughout his body," his manager, Rosalie Swedlin, told The Hollywood Reporter. "What's remarkable is that after his first surgery, he was able to direct 'Letters to Juliet.' It was a battle that we thought he had won, and ultimately they just didn't get it all."

A memorial service is in the works and people will be asked to make charitable donations. "Gary was an incredibly important figure in the indie movement," Swedlin said. "He will be missed."

Adele's 21 Debuts At #1 On Billboard 200

British singer knocks Justin Bieber from top spot, but Biebs still has two albums in top five.

We called it! As predicted on MTV News last week, Grammy-winning British soul sister Adele will nab the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart next week with her new album, 21, which sold 352,000 copies to easily take the crown.

According to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, that was more than enough to outpace last week's #1, Justin Bieber's Never Say Never - The Remixes, which drops a spot to #2 as sales trailed off by 38 percent to 102,000. The 17-year-old pop sensation has nothing to worry about, though, as the remix effort was just one of two albums he has in the top five, the other being his nearly year-old My World 2.0, which lands at #5 on sales of 42,000.

In an otherwise slow week with few new releases, most of the rest of the top 20 saw double-digit declines, as the Grammy effect started to wear off on a number of artists. The rest of the top 10: Mumford & Sons, Sigh No More (#3, 71,000, down 46 percent), NOW 37 (#4, 58,000, down 37 percent), Bruno Mars, Doo-Wops & Hooligans (#6, 37,000, down 40 percent), Eminem, Recovery (#7, 34,000, down 44 percent), Rihanna, Loud (#8, 33,000, down 26 percent), Nicki Minaj, Pink Friday (#9, 32,000, down 30 percent) and Lady Antebellum, Need You Now (#10, down 67 percent).

Though she couldn't pull off the Bieber top five double-play, Adele's 2008 debut, 19, continues its march back up the charts, jumping 34 spots to #16 on sales of 18,000. Meanwhile, the short-lived Grammy bump for Arcade Fire seems to be over, as the disc slips five spots to #17 as sales plummeted by 59 percent to 17,000. And after coming in at #13 last week, Bright Eyes' The People's Key dives 28 slots to #41 as sales trailed off by 72 percent to 11,000.

Former Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump has a modest debut at #67 with his first EP, Truant Wave (7,000).

Things were much the same on the iTunes charts, where Adele tops the album tally, followed by Mumford, Bieber's My World 2.0 and his remix album, then Adele's 19, Rihanna, Lupe Fiasco's Lasers, Stump, Florence and the Machine's Lungs and Eminem.

Lady Gaga continues to lord over the iTunes singles chart with "Born This Way," edging out Cee Lo Green's "Forget You." Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor" comes in at #3, followed by Rihanna's "S&M," Katy Perry's "E.T." and Adele's "Rolling in the Deep." Rounding out the list are Dr. Dre and Eminem with "I Need a Doctor" (#7), Pink's "F---in' Perfect," Ke$ha's "Blow" and Bruno Mars' "Grenade."

Things should be pretty static at the top next week, with the only new releases coming from former Floetry member Marsha Ambrosius, as well as new albums from Lucinda Williams and Harry Connick Jr. and the debut from former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher's new band, Beady Eye.

Lady Gaga's Fans Call Her A 'Source Of Inspiration'

Little monsters gush about pop star outside Madison Square Garden.
By MTV News Staff

On Tuesday night, Lady Gaga's little monsters filed into Madison Square Garden for her second of two nights at the storied New York venue. Her fans talked to MTV News about the impact Mother Monster has had on their lives, and many said she gives them the courage to be who they truly are.

"I think that Lady Gaga, for me, has given me a new source of inspiration. And she's so creative ... you have to have some sort of reaction to that," Frank said outside MSG. "And, for me, it's a positive one."

Donning an outrageous outfit, little monster Ricky joked that Gaga has recently done two things for him: "She made us broke, and she reminds us to be ourselves."

Kevin explained that in a world as vapid as pop can be, Gaga serves as a reminder that true art can be created. "As a music fan, I think it's fantastic that we finally have someone else now to be, like, all about a great message and great music," he said. "She writes her own music, which you don't get anymore."

"Lady Gaga's fantastic," Michael chimed in. "Again, as an artist, she's really proven that you can be who you want to be and do what you wanna do and really succeed with it."

Gaga's connection to her art is what seems to really stick with some fans. "I think Lady Gaga has affected everyone personally," Garrett explained, "because I think she's shown the whole artistry of it and making pop culture and art one and one again."

In between all the chatter about her devotion to her music and her craft, one fan noted that Lady Gaga just makes it fine to wear wacky wigs. "She totally made me buy this yellow wig," Gabriella said. "Without her, I never would have bought it. I'm not even lying."

Charlie Sheen's Publicist Quits

Charlie Sheen's Publicist Quits

Charlie Sheen's latest rant has cost him an ally. The star's longtime publicist, Stan Rosenfield, announced Monday that he was no longer representing Sheen.

"I have worked with Charlie Sheen for a long time and I care about him very much," Rosenfield said in a statement. "However, at this time, I’m unable to work effectively as his publicist and have respectfully resigned."

The resignation came just minutes after Sheen gave a live interview to TMZ.com, where he suggested that Rosenfield lied to the press. Back in October, after Sheen wrecked a N.Y.C. hotel room, the rep said the Two and a Half Men star's behavior was the result of an allergic reaction.

"I was asleep when that statement went out," Sheen said. "I respect Stan, he was doing the best he could at the moment. Had I confirmed with him, I probably would have come up with something better."

Upon hearing the news that Rosenfield had quit, Sheen called him a "p*ssy." He then told TMZ.com, "He's not allowed to quit, so you're fired."

Oscars 2011 Superlatives Go To Kirk Douglas, Christian Bale, More

Really, how else could we honor 'He Doesn't Own a Shirt'?
By Eric Ditzian

The stage has gone quiet at the Kodak Theatre. The celebs have all gone home. Everyone is heavy-lidded and hazily recollecting the winners and losers at the 83rd Academy Awards on Sunday. Along those lines, it's time for MTV News to fight off the sleepiness, down some caffeine and dole out some Oscar superlatives.

Best Attempt to Make the Show Run Long
Kirk Douglas' assigned task was to hand out the Best Supporting Actress award, but when the 94-year-old actor finally reached the microphone, he was in no hurry to cede the spotlight. Douglas joked with James Franco, flirted with Anne Hathaway, and made random references to laughing Australians and austere Brits. It was touching and awkward and utterly memorable. And it felt like it lasted 15 minutes.

Most Surprisingly Great Speech
This one is a tie between Christian Bale (Supporting Actor) and "King's Speech" writer David Seidler (Original Screenplay). Bale surprised even himself when he fought off tears while thanking his wife and daughter. Seidler, meanwhile, happily acknowledged being the oldest person ever to win Original Screenplay; not only is he a proud late-bloomer, he's a shining and articulate example of the ways in which a person can overcome a stutter.

Strangest Standing Ovation
The audience stood and applauded for everyone from Douglas to Eli Wallach. Hollywood legends, all. But everyone in the Kodak also got to their feet for Billy Crystal. Sure, he's been a damn fine Oscar host in years past, and who doesn't love "When Harry Met Sally...," but a standing O for Crystal just seemed weird.

Most Welcome Wins
While Christopher Nolan got screwed out of a directing nomination, he had to be one of the happiest cats at the show: "Inception" tied "The King's Speech" for most wins with four, including Visual Effects and Cinematography.

Most Gratuitous Use of Taylor Lautner's Abs
Hey, if you can't get any of the "Twilight" cast to show up to the Oscars, why not whip up a viral-video-ready mash-up? The Auto-Tuned faux musical number, "He Doesn't Own a Shirt," was not only a chance to see Robert Pattinson "sing," but it gave the Academy's millions of viewers an opportunity to gawk at Lautner's midsection.

Most Shameless Use of Prepared Text
There's nothing wrong with pulling out a scrap of paper while up on stage, Oscar in hand. Imagine your nerves? Yet after winning Costume Design for her work on "Alice in Wonderland," Colleen Atwood — who'd won two previous Oscars — buried her head in a prepared speech and talked as if she were delivering an elementary school book report rather than a speech during Hollywood's most glamorous night.

Performance Most in Need of Auto-Tune
Gwyneth Paltrow has been wowing us on "Glee" and simply killed it alongside Cee Lo at the Grammys earlier this month, but we're not gonna lie: Paltrow's take on "Coming Home" on Sunday was not her finest live performance.

Saddest "In Memoriam" Snub
Corey Haim failed to get a posthumous mention at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, leading his buddy Corey Feldman to lament, "We have become used to not being honored by our peers in the industry." Alas, Haim was once again snubbed, failing to make it into a video package honoring the likes of Lena Horne and Leslie Nielsen.

Stick with MTV News on Oscar night and beyond for red-carpet fashion coverage, analysis of the winners, plus interviews, photos and more from your favorite Hollywood stars!
