Kids' Choice Awards Owned By Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift

<P>Host Will Smith was joined Saturday (March 31) by a bevy of stars for Nickelodeon's annual slime-fest, the <a href="http://www.nick.com/kids-choice-awards/">Kids' Choice Awards</a>. </P><P> </P><P>The movie star and MC kicked off the night with a KCA-themed rap that included the first sliming of the night, when buckets of the famed goo fell on the audience, setting the tone for the fun-filled evening. The "Men In Black III" star promised that 2012 would include a record-breaking amount of slime, adding, "No one is safe from the slime." That included Halle Berry, who was the first celeb to get slimed. </P><P> </P><P>The night's first presenters certainly brought the kooky factor up a bit. Nicki Minaj was decked out in a candy-colored dress complete with a bustier made out of tickets and bubbles glued to her skirt, as she stood alongside "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson. The pair handed out the first blimp to Favorite Musical Group winners Big Time Rush. </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:cms:video:nick.com:1118670" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></center> </P><P> </P><P> </P><P>Real-life couple and "The Amazing Spider-Man" stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone presented the award for Favorite Movie Actor. Decked out in a two-piece, midriff-baring top and sparkly skirt, Gomez also won for Favorite Female Singer. I can't wait to do 'Smurfs 2.' " </P><P> </P><P>Kristen Stewart won for Favorite Movie Actress for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1." Beaming in blue lace, she said, "This is, like, the coolest awards show ever. I love Nickelodeon. I liked 'Doug,' 'Rocco's Modern Life.' Awesome. " That Robert he was referring to was presenter Robert Downey Jr., not Pattinson, obviously. </P><P> </P><P>After winning, he was forced to do 1,000 push-ups by Smith. His reward for completing the misson? Getting slimed. </P><P> </P><P><a href="/news/articles/1682190/one-direction-kids-choice-awards-performance-2012.jhtml">One Direction continued their U.S. takeover</a> with their performance on the show. For "What Makes You Beautiful," the guys wore all black-and-white while futuristic lights danced behind them. "Creepy Voice" had spent the night taunting Will, telling him how inadequate a host he is. His reasons? "I've always wanted to be slimed," "The Voice" judge said. "My name is Cee Lo Green. Slime's green. Slime me!" He didn't get slimed, but he did get ice-cream-sundaed. Maybe next year, Cee Lo. </P><P> </P><P>After kicking Jaden and Willow out and accusing them of being "Creepy Voice," he brought his performer kids back out to hand out Favorite Male Singer, the night's last award. <a href="/news/articles/1682156/justin-bieber-explains-boyfriend-video.jhtml">Justin Bieber, fresh from shooting his "Boyfriend" video</a>, took the stage to accept his blimp. </P><P> </P><P>"Right now, I've been working really hard on my album, <I>Believe.</I> This album is our album. Lady Gaga Surpasses 20 Million Followers On Twitter
Pop star extends her record-breaking Twitter dominance over second-place holder Justin Bieber.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> is known for her prolific Internet presence, and now she can lay claim to another achievement: She's the first person to pass 20 million followers on <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga" target="_blank">Twitter</a>. </P><P> </P><P>Mother Monster has yet to acknowledge the feat on her social network of choice, but, on February 9, when she noticed her number of followers eclipsed 19 million, she good-naturedly <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/167686723906703360" target="_blank">tweeted</a>, "19 Million Followers!!! HOLY HOOKER!!! *goes back to work*" </P><P> </P><P>Like many celebrities, Gaga has used Twitter to forge a closer relationship with her fans as well as make announcements about her career and respond to criticism, as she recently did when British music magazine <i>NME</i> named her hit album <i>Born This Way</i> the <a href="/news/articles/1679839/lady-gaga-most-pretentious-albums-born-this-way.jhtml">Most Pretentious Album Ever</a>. </P><P> </P><P>Gaga has been the most followed person on Twitter since August 2010, when she blasted past <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> for the title when she reached 5.6 million followers. </P><P> </P><P>Spears now enjoys 13.6 million followers, making her the seventh most-followed person on the network. Currently in third place is Katy Perry with 15.7 million followers. Shakira (14.5 million) and Rihanna (14.5 million) are not far behind. </P><P> </P><P>The only person within spitting distance of Gaga on Twitter is <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>. The recent <a href="/news/articles/1680248/justin-bieber-birthday-gifts.jhtml">birthday boy</a> has just over 18 million followers. But Mother Monster cannot claim being the boss on Facebook. Taylor Swift Tops Billboard 2012 Top Money Makers
Lady Gaga, Adele and Lil Wayne make top 10.

But when <a href="http://www.billboard.com/news/music-s-top-40-money-makers-2012-1006415552.story#/news/music-s-top-40-money-makers-2012-1006415552.story" target="_blank"><I>Billboard</I></a> magazine compiled its 2012 list of "Music's Top 40 Money Makers" it was <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/swift__taylor/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Taylor Swift</a> who ruled them all. In fact, the 22-year-old country-pop darling out-earned all of her fellow ladies combined. </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:732753/cp~vid%3D732753%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A732753" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> </P><P> </P><P>According to the magazine's calculations, Swift earned her #1 spot on the list thanks to reported earnings of $35.7 million in the 2011 calendar year. Those earnings came from a combination of revenue from the quadruple-platinum-plus sales of <I>Speak Now</I> and its accompanying tour, which grossed $88.5 million in the U.S. alone. </P><P> </P><P>But because Swift writes her own songs, she rolled up a big chunk of change in songwriting royalties as well. </P><P> </P><P>Right behind Swift was iconic rock band U2, who earned a reported $32.1 million thanks to their record-setting 360 Tour -- which grossed a whopping $736 million total over two years -- including $50 million in merchandise sales and 1.4 million in digital track sales. </P><P> </P><P>Country singer Kenny Chesney was #3 with $29.8 million, followed by previous tally topper Gaga at #4 with $25.3 million. She stayed in the top 5 thanks to sales of <I>Born This Way</I> and its accompanying Monster Ball Tour, which grossed more than $51 million. She also moved 12.7 million digital tracks. Lil Wayne rounded out the top 5 with $23.1 million, made up of 12.3 million digital track sales, $44.7 million in tour grosses and cash from his gig as founder of Young Money Entertainment. </P><P> </P><P>The rest of the top 10: Sade (#6, $16.3 million), Bon Jovi (#7, $15.8 million), Celine Dion (#8, $14.2 million) and Jason Aldean (#9, $13.4 million). Adele rounded out the top 10 list at #10 with $13 million, mostly from the unstoppable streak of her <I>21</I> album's <a href="/news/articles/1680635/adele-21-album-billboard-charts.jhtml">chart run,</a>
 which included sales of 6.7 million copies last year alone. </P><P> </P><P>The "Glee" cast were just outside the top 10 at #11 ($12.5 million), Katy Perry hit #14 ($11.9 million), Britney Spears was at #16 ($10 million) and like her sisters in pop, Rihanna made it to #22 ($7.6 million) through a combination of album and single sales and touring revenue. </P><P> </P><P>Other notable entries: Enrique Iglesias (#23, $7.4 million), Usher (#30, $6.2 million), Foo Fighters (#31, $6 million), Justin Bieber (#35, $5.5 million), Kanye West (#39, $5.3 million) and Linkin Park (#40, $5.1 million). </P><P> </P><P><i>Billboard</i> calculated the figures based on proprietary data from its Boxscore archives for concert grosses, Nielsen SoundScan for sales of physical and digital albums, singles and ringtone sales, and Nielsen BDS for terrestrial radio play and streaming service information.</p>

Usher's Next Album 'Soulful, Catchy,' Taio Cruz Teases

Set to work with fellow hitmaker <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/cruz__taio/artist.jhtml">Taio Cruz</a>, the two already cooked up some magic with their <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/guetta_david/artist.jhtml">David Guetta</a> anthem <a href="/news/articles/1670301/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">"Without You,"</a> and it seems they are hoping to recapture that spirit for Usher's follow-up to 2010's <i>Raymond v. Raymond</i>. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Taio Cruz's Collabo With Usher Is A 'Secret'" id="vid:717257" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>"I saw Usher a few times, but I spoke to him at length at David [Guetta]'s house when we were in Ibiza [Spain]," he told MTV News in L.A. after his Jingle Ball set. "He has very specific ideas of where he wants to go musically and sound-wise." </P><P> </P><P>Given that Usher has never shied away from exposing a bit of himself in his music, while also keeping the party going, Cruz wants to make sure they can connect the mind, body and soul for this next release. "He always wants there to be the soul in there," he explained. "I'm kind of, not the opposite, but I'm always like, 'Let's get straight to the point and be really clear with the message and be simple.' </P><P> </P><P>"So we try to match those two worlds together: being soulful and, at the same time, catchy," he added. </P><P> </P><P>Cruz can't yet discuss what they're working on: Besides "Without You," he said, "Everything else is secret." </P><P> </P><P>Usher said he was drawn to the <a href="/news/articles/1674782/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">Guetta hit</a> because he connected to it emotionally, explaining to MTV News recently what an important part that plays in his musical philosophy. <P>PETA's youth division, peta2, is giving props to celebs like <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> and "Glee" star Lea Michele at this year's <a href="http://features.peta2.com/libby-awards-2011/?utm_campaign=1211%20Libbys%20Nominees%20Press%20Pitches&utm_source=peta2%20Pitch&utm_medium=Media#PeopleAndMusic" target="_blank">Libby Awards</a> for their efforts in support of animal rights. </P><P> </P><P>The Biebs, who appeared in a <a href="/news/articles/1656302/justin-bieber-peta-ad.jhtml">campaign</a> for the organization at the top of the year using Bieber-fied catch-phrases like "My world includes passion for animals, yours should too" and "Animals can make u smile. Ke$ha appeared in an ad campaigning against the slaughter of Canadian seals. </P><P> </P><P>Michele, who speaks out against the mistreatment of carriage horses in New York City, faces off against "Jackass" star Steve-O, Cobra Starship's leading man and peta2's Sexiest Vegetarian Gabe Saporta, and "Victorious" star Daniella Monet in the Top Animal-Friendly Celebrity category. </P><P> </P><P>The Ready Set, Tokio Hotel, Hellogoodbye and the Swellers are all up for Most Animal-Friendly Band. Ke$ha and Tokio are also up for Best peta2 ad along with Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness and Yelle. </P><P> </P><P>The Libby (as in "Liberation") Awards will be decided on January 17 by fan votes as well as peta2. Voting ends December 23. </P><P> </P><P>"Our nominees have all worked hard to shine their spotlights on a variety of important animal issues," peta2 Division Manager Marta Holmberg said about the nominees, which honors animal-friendly people and products. Robert Plant And Alison Krauss Win Grammy Album Of The Year
Raising Sand, from Led Zeppelin vet and bluegrass superstar, wins five Grammys on Sunday night.

<P>"I'm bewildered," <a href="/music/artist/plant_robert/artist.jhtml">Robert Plant</a> said onstage as he accepted the <MTVNLINK type="news" id="1604580">Grammy Album of the Year award</MTVNLINK> with <a href="/music/artist/krauss_alison/artist.jhtml">Alison Krauss</a> on Sunday night. "In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday." </P><P> </P><P>He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because <i>Raising Sand,</i> which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys/">Grammy</a> album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards.</p><div style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float: left;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:338316" width="256" height="223" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashVars="configParams=instance%3Dnews%26vid%3D338316" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his <a href="/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a> days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history. </P><P> </P><P>Really, she's the key to <i>Sand</i>'s success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music — so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, <i>Sand</i> was released. </P><P> </P><P>And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain. </P><P> </P><P>And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on <i>Sand.</i> His arrangements are sparse — giving the two voices ample room to breathe — yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified. </P><P> </P><P>To date, <i>Sand</i> has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year — "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. </P><P> </P><P>One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album. </P><P> </P><P>"At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" <i>New York Times</i> music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really <i>good</i> record. So when you combine all that with the fact that the Grammys love to lionize one of their own, I could really see it taking home some awards." </P><P></p>

Conrad Murray Not Expected To Serve Full Four Years
Legal expert Mike Cavalluzzi tells MTV News he isn't surprised by sentence but doesn't think it's justified.

<P>Though he dodged a potential four-year prison term, former <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml">Michael Jackson</a> physician Conrad Murray was sentenced to an equal amount of time in Los Angeles County Jail on Tuesday (November 29) in the death of the pop singer. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Sentenced" id="vid:714975.id:1673923" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>But the same overcrowding problems that spared the cardiologist from doing time in a federal pen might also save him from serving his entire sentence in county as well. Shortly after the <a href="/news/articles/1675062/conrad-murray-sentence.jhtml">sentence was handed down</a> by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, Los Angeles Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore told <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/jackson_family_reacts_conrad_murrays/277336" target="_blank">E! News</a> that Murray would likely end up serving "a little less than two years." Due to overcrowding, most county jail sentences are immediately cut in half, and given the 46 days credit Murray has already been given, he is looking at even less than that. </P><P> </P><P><a href="https://www.facebook.com/mtvnews/posts/199210760161755" target="_blank"><b>Do you think Conrad Murray deserved the maximum sentence? Let us know on Facebook.</b></a> </P><P> </P><P>Murray's lawyers said afterward that they believed the sentence was unnecessarily long. "Yes, of course [Judge Pastor] was harsh. He gave the stiffest penalty he was entitled to give under the law," Murray's attorney, J. Michael Flanagan, told reporters. "He was openly hostile. ... [Murray has] led 56 years of exemplary life. He was really dreading [sentencing]. I think anybody would dread going into it. He's an honorable man, and he'll get through this. The family is suffering more than Dr. Murray is. ... Dr. Murray is the provider in that family." </P><P> </P><P>Pastor had leeway in the sentencing, with options ranging from probation to the full sentence, but in a lengthy ruling from the bench, he said Murray's lack of remorse and negligent behavior called for the highest possible penalty. "He is and remains dangerous ... the request of probation is denied, the court imposes the high term of four years imprisonment in this case," Pastor said during the 90-plus-minute hearing. </P><P> </P><P>Los Angeles-based criminal defense attorney Mike Cavalluzzi told MTV News that he wasn't surprised by the sentencing but that he didn't believe it was justified. Cavalluzzi said Pastor had incentive to give the full sentence because of the prominence of Jackson and his family and to create the perception that he is tough on crime. "He gets that perception by sentencing him to the max while not having to surrender the defendant to the full sentence," said Cavalluzzi, who was not involved in the case. "He gets the self-satisfaction of being perceived as being tough on crime and making the Jackson family happy, but I don't think it was a fair sentence." </P><P> </P><P>Cavalluzzi said when deciding prison versus probation, judges have to look at someone's criminal history and whether a person is likely to complete the terms of their probation, which he believes Murray would. "I'm not seeing aggravating factors here, and I think it was just a chapter in [Murray's] life and he does not have a history of being a mercenary doctor always after money, but of being a good, responsible doctor who was seduced by the celebrity and money that Jackson offered," he said. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Michael Jackson's Former Doctor Guilty Of Involuntary Manslaughter" id="vid:708788.id:1673923" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>As to why Pastor gave such a dramatic, lengthy explanation for why he was sentencing Murray to the max, Cavalluzzi said the judge has to have a justification for his actions in the public record. "Because he doesn't have the discretion to give a high prison term, [Pastor] has to justify his sentence in the record and have very specific reasons for it. I don't think there's any way that anyone truly believes that from this day forward Dr. Murray truly represents a threat to society. That's just ludicrous." </P><P> </P><P>And while he doesn't agree with the four-year term, Cavalluzzi said the high-profile nature of the case and the glare of the media could have played into the sentence. "It probably gives [<a href="/news/articles/1675068/conrad-murray-sentencing.jhtml">Jackson's family</a>] great comfort to have someone to blame," he said. " 'If not for this awful man, my son, brother, father would be alive.' But it's not fair to do that and it feels like a capitulating judgment in favor of feeding the emotional needs of the family." </P><P> </P><P>Upon leaving the courthouse, Michael's brother Jermaine, when asked if the four-year sentence was enough, shook his head and said, "No." Mother Katherine Jackson told local TV station KTLA, "Four years is not enough for someone's life. It won't bring him back. But at least he got the maximum, and I thought the judge was very, very fair." </P><P> </P><P>The prosecution, however, was satisfied with the ruling. </P><P> </P><P>"We're pleased. That's what we thought was appropriate. The judge obviously agreed with us," deputy district attorney David Walgren said. "It was our position that it was not a simple, one-time mistake; it was a series of mistakes culminating in the abandonment of Michael Jackson when he died ... the judge agreed with that sentiment. A brother and a son and a family member was killed, and whatever the sentence may be, the family of the victim deserves justice. And we did everything to bring them that justice." </P><P> </P><P>As for how much time Murray will spend locked up, Cavalluzzi said it is likely to be less than two years and, frankly, he predicted, the doctor could be out even sooner than that. "He might be eligible for house arrest very quickly," he said.</p>

Kerry Washington Pregnant: ?Scandal? Star Expecting First Child with Husband Nnamdi Asomugha
Kerry Washington is pregnant, according to reports. The star of ‘Scandal’ and her husband, NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha, are said to be expecting their first child. The 36-year-old actress, who portrays Washington, DC crisis management specialist Olivia Pope on the wildly popular ABC TV drama, ‘Scandal,’ has been married for just a few months to 32-year-old Nnamdi Asomugha of the San Francisco 49ers. The couple had a wedding in Idaho the traditional month of June, but managed to keep it a secret, and announced it after the fact. Both US Weekly and People magazine quote unnamed sources who say the star is pregnant; respectively the sources say “She’s about four months along” and “Kerry and Nnamdi are ecstatic.” Her rep has not confirmed the reports to either publication. Kerry Washington had been rumored for weeks to be expecting especially since some of her recent red carpet appearances, a photo from one of which you can see above. Her figure-concealing empire waist dress on that occasion and other occasions — such as her recent appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ which you can see below — have led to speculation that she might be using the extra fabric to hide a baby [...]

Justin Bieber Will Change 'The Landscape' With Believe
Producer Mike Posner says Bieber's next album will make pop artists 'go back to the drawing board.'

<P>This week, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> dropped his single <a href="/news/articles/1681772/justin-bieber-boyfriend-mike-posner.jhtml">"Boyfriend,"</a> marking his first step toward making more mature-sounding pop tunes. Co-producer Mike Posner told MTV News that Bieber's upcoming <i>Believe</i> album displays how far he's come since the sugary sweet ditties of his <i>My World</i> days. </P><P> </P><P>"I think our goal was to make something that me and my friends could listen to in the car," Posner explained. "I think we've all known Justin since he was 13, and that's not the kid I was in the studio with anymore. He's an 18-year-old. He <a href="/news/articles/1678337/justin-bieber-lil-wayne-studio-visit.jhtml">skateboards with Lil Wayne</a> and hangs out with Lil Twist. Those are his homies. And he listens to hip-hop and he's a really cool kid. King of Pop's takeover leads to some head-scratching song choices.

<P>"Glee" paid tribute to Michael Jackson during Tuesday night's episode and, shockingly, kept the story moving along in the midst of several MJ-inspired musical numbers. Kurt, Rachel and Quinn all received great news about college, Rachel finally accepted Finn's proposal and evil Sebastian's plot to harm Kurt with a doctored slushee backfired when Blaine took the hit for his boyfriend. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Glee'-Cap: Michael Jackson Takes Over McKinley High" id="vid:730282.id:1671179" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>Yet the forced "all Michael, all the time" song selection led to some head-scratching scenes including Kurt, Rachel and Finn serenading an injured Blaine with Jackson's love song to a rat, "Ben," and two different music-video re-enactments only appealed to Jackson superfans. The rest of us can enjoy my latest "Glee-cap"! Lauren Conrad: Halloween Hottie
Attending the Warwick Nightclub in Hollywood, reality starlet Lauren Conrad and fiance William Tell dressed up for the Matthew Morrison Halloween Party.
Dressed as a "Faerie Queene," on Sunday morning (October 27), the 27-year-old beauty walked beside her man, who rolled down the night streets in what appeared to be a doctor's costume, complete with lab coat and a name tag.
Recently, Lauren talked a bit about William during an interview with Marie Claire, saying, ""He is very good for me because we have a lot in common as far as where we grew up."
She also admitted that they are just right together, telling the magazine, "It's the first time I'm with someone and I'm not explaining things. He also has experience in the entertainment industry, so he understands a lot of things that people don't always get."
