Elephants, tigers, monkeys and a pop star transformed into the ruler of her new terrain. Fans of Katy Perry’s previous videos — notably the evocative ‘Wide Awake’ — will not be disappointed. From start to finish the video, which was directed by Grady Hall and Mark Kudsi, evokes the Technicolor adventures of Hollywood’s golden era. Crash landing in the middle of the wilderness, Katie Perry takes on the iconic role of Jane, the helpmate of Tarzan of the Apes. She embodies the role with ferocity as she swings on vines. Tarzan himself does not make an appearance, and there is narry a John Mayer or his lookalike, at least not in this one.
